I've recently done my first photography shoot of my models transformed into birds. I'm pleased with many of the photographs however I'm disappointed in the outside photography. This is because it's getting dark earlier now so we only had a certain time to photograph outside, although we still shot some outside in the dark with extra lighting equipment. The best ones I personally think are the photographs shot in the photography studio. This is because there was a large white backdrop and extra lighting available

This is one of the first photographs I took outside. The reason I picked them to be behind the mesh is because I wanted my models to look like they were in a cage and trying to escape. I like it because there's different heights within the photograph. Also I like it because although there was only suppose to be two models, and Joe (far right) was meant to help me with the lighting on the night of the photo shoot I had a grand idea of including a boy into my bird photography. I think it worked well because it made Joe look superior to the girls. Another reason I like this photograph is because Joe is looking down on Emma, (middle) and Sofia (far left). To me it looks like he's watching over them to make sure they aren't doing anything they are suppose to. I am a little bit disappointed in this photograph though because I wanted extra lighting to show the contrast between light and dark, so when I plan to do the shoot again the scene will be light and it'll be a lot easier to shoot. Overall I like this photograph a lot because it's something different which you don't see everyday and hopefully I'll be able make these photographs stand out a lot more once I've put them on photoshop and edited them around to make them look the best they can be.
Now this photograph 'above' has to be one of my favourites and is definitely in my chosen folder to be in my calendar or on mount board. I like this photograph because I took it in the photography studio and it's one of the first ones I took. The reasons I like it is because there's a contrast between light and dark in it. Also there's shadow within the photograph and I prefer this because when we were shooting outside there's no light and dark contrast. This also is a good photograph because the model is looking right into the camera, I wanted to make the viewers of my photographs think and see meaning behind the photographs. When I plan to do my next photo shoot I'll be able to do this again but with a different model and I'll be able to compare and contrast between the two. I also think this is a good photograph of Joe because he is not central, I wanted my models to not be central in the photographs because I think it looks better with negative and empty space. I plan to use this photo on photo shop and I plan to copy the model at least 3 times to create a sense of movement in the photograph. I think this photo could be better by possibly getting the model to look more down. Reasons for this is because I wanted to make my models look captured because they are birds and they have been taken away from their family and friends and habitats in the wild.
Out of all 254 photographs that I took on open evening this one and a couple of others are definitely my favourites. I like this photograph a lot because Sofia (far left) looks so bird-like. I chose their costumes and their make-up to make them look as bird like as possible. I also like the relationship between the feathers in the girls hair. This will draw the viewer in and help them understand what they are. Another thing I like about the photo is that they are standing differently to one another, I like how Sofia is standing and it seems to me as if both girls are looking right through Joe (middle) I like this because it makes the bird in the middle seem ghost-like to the other models. If I could do this photo again I would make sure Emma (far right) was turned a bit more central, this is because she looks kind-of off centre. Overall this is still my favourite picture because it seems very ghost-like and it shows I have thought about my models poses before photographing them.
Again this another one of my favourites! This is because again I like the relationship between the feathers in their hair. Also I am trying to portray my model Emma (right) looking at self reflection of herself which reveals a different side too. This can be seen with the change of colours such as blue for sadness to show how she perceives herself on the inside. Also I like this picture because the perpendicular lines of the feathers on Sofia's shawl and Emma's dress. This shows similarities between the two models and draws the viewer in. Again I like the relationship and contrast between light and dark and I also like the way they are both standing. Hopefully the viewer of this photograph will see what I'm trying to pursue by using this as one of my examples.
Overall my favourite photograph out of this shoot is the one below for many reasons. I like the colours and how clear the photograph is. I really like the way the models have presented themselves. Again I like the perpendicular lines of the feathers on both models clothing. Underneath this photograph is my own design from this photoshoot and my second photography shoot that I did. I have had this printed this onto a t-shirt and the design has 'vogue' written on it because my brief is to do with Vogue.
I like this design very much so because the colours are very iratic and that's my favourite thing about it. It was a lot of hard work but I enjoyed creating this and getting this printed on to a t-shirt. I like the different colours and how I planned to do the same poses, with the same models in different clothes for both photography shoots.
