Anglia Ruskin's Degree Show

Anglia Ruskin was the first university we went to visit. I particularly liked the photography within the uni.
Anglia Ruskin was awarded 'university status' in 1992. The student population in Anglia Ruskin is 31,000. Anglia Ruskin is one of the largest universities in the east of England.

I thought that the Anglia Ruskin degree show was good to an extent, they had a lot of variety within the photography course. Although I was disappointed with how little there actually was. The university itself looks amazing and I enjoyed having a good look around at other peoples work and looking at all the different outcomes that can come from one topic. One piece of work I particularly liked looking at was by a student called Poppy Dyer, she did a photography piece called 'sink in the pink.' The piece was based on men in drag. She explained in her piece that she had previously did a piece based on one male in drag and she wanted to elaborate more on the culture. The picture below shows the final piece she did 'sink in the pink'.

Another piece I enjoyed looking at was another photography piece by a student called Louise Addison. The piece was called '
Mother Hood' and the piece involved 6 women's stomachs. To show that the physical and psychological change is continuous. Louise wanted to show that some women are so intimidated by celebrity mothers having babies and their body instantly goes back to the body they once had.

All the women in the photograph have had children but some show little evidence compared to others.
This piece of photography was produced to insure mothers that no matter what the size or shape they are, it doesn't matter how your body changes. It's normal to change. I liked this piece a lot because it's true and it's within the reality of life. I'm sure that this piece would mean a lot to mothers all across the world. Also I think people would appreciate it aswell because it's true, some women are scared to have children because they don't want their summer body to go anywhere, but the fact is, it's normal to change. Everyone goes through it. The bottom picture is the photograph up in the degree show.
